Board Members at Large serve as stewards of NMRC’s mission, providing governance oversight, strategic guidance, and community accountability. Board Members contribute their expertise, lived experience, and professional judgment to help guide the organization’s direction, ensure ethical operations, and support long-term impact.
Key Responsibilities include participating in Board decision-making; fulfilling fiduciary, legal, and ethical duties; supporting strategic planning and organizational growth; and serving as ambassadors for NMRC within the community. Board Members are expected to engage thoughtfully in discussions, review materials in advance, and contribute constructively to collective governance, assist in managing & facilitating major fundraiser events.
NMRC seeks Board Members with backgrounds or experience in areas such as nonprofit leadership, housing, healthcare, behavioral health, legal services, finance, community advocacy, or systems change. Individuals with lived experience related to justice involvement, recovery, or reentry are strongly encouraged to apply, as are those with strong ties to New Mexico communities.
Board Members commit to attending monthly meetings (virtual or hybrid options available) and participating in committees or special initiatives as appropriate. This role emphasizes governance, oversight, and mission stewardship rather than operational management.
